A house fire blocked traffic on No. 2 Road at Kittiwake Drive on Feb. 17.

Drivers travelling on No. 2 Road should find an alternate route on Wednesday afternoon.

A house fire, that has since been put out, caused traffic to be closed off on No. 2 Road at Kittiwake Drive, just south of Steveston Highway.

"A fire in the back patio of a split level house had spread up into the attic space of the residence," said Al McGrath, deputy chief with the Richmond Fire-Rescue.

"No injuries were reported as three tenants escaped the fire themselves and four cats were rescued by staff."

McGrath told the Richmond News that investigators are en route to determine what caused the fire.

No. 2 Road is expected to remain closed until 4 p.m. and motorists are asked to use Railway Avenue or Gilbert Road as alternate routes for the time being.
