No. 4 Road was closed between Westminster Highway and Alderbridge Way, according to RCMP.

An unexploded ordnance turned into the Colonel Sherman Armoury on No. 4 Road  in Richmond caused that section of the road to be closed for two hours on Friday morning (May 9).

At around 9:30 a.m., Richmond RCMP responded to a report that the unexploded ordnance, a military weapon, had been turned in, and “out of an abundance of caution,” the road was shut down.

This was so the stability of the ordnance could be assessed, RCMP said.

An ammunition technician from the Canadian Armed Forces attended and safely removed the unexploded ordnance.

“If you come across what appears to be unexploded ordnance or an unknown military artifact, do not touch or move it,” said Cpl. Melissa Lui, Richmond RCMP media relations officer.

“Leave the item where it is and contact your local police for assistance.”

This is the section of No. 4 Road between Garden City Lands and the Department of National Defence lands.
