Richmond crossing could replace Pattullo

TransLink is pitching everything from a pedestrian-and-bike-only bridge to a tunnel, a Surrey-Coquitlam crossing, or even a Richmond-Burnaby one to replace the aging Pattullo Bridge over the Fraser River and, chances are, any crossing will be tolled.

A four-lane bridge at Tree Island linking Richmond and Burnaby is still one of the options, but is an unlikely option since there is no support from either Richmond or Burnaby. Whatever option is chosen, the public will pay the price.

The Pattullo Bridge review, which went out for public consultation this week, and includes several options for replacing the 76-year-old bridge that connects Surrey and New Westminster.
