The number of COVID-19 cases in Richmond has dipped somewhat after climbing steadily for about six weeks.
The BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) reported there were 68 new cases in Richmond between Aug. 29 and Sept. 4, down from 91 in the previous reporting period.
In mid-July, there were only 13 new weekly COVID-19 cases in Richmond but this number has been rising since then.
But as the fourth wave of the pandemic continues, there continues to be hundreds of new cases daily across the province.
The Ministry of Health reported Thursday 774 new cases in B.C. over the past 24 hours, of which 262 were in hospital and 130 in the ICU.
There were nine people at Richmond Hospital with COVID-19 as of Thursday morning, of whom five are in the ICU.
But despite the number of people in hospital with COVID-19, Vancouver Coastal Health stays it’s still safe to access services and medical staff follow safety standards set out by health officials.
Drop-in vaccination clinics are continuing at River Rock Casino until Sept. 26 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The casino is located at 8811 River Rd.
