Richmond change-makers nominated for YWCA women of distinction awards

Ten local women and organizations are being highlighted for generating positive change in Richmond.

YWCA Metro Vancouver's annual Women of Distinction Awards is returning for the 41st year to recognize individuals and organizations for their contribution to the community, celebrate diversity and empower the community.

Out of 106 nominees, 10 Richmond individuals and organizations were nominated for seven categories:

  • Arts, Culture & Design: Naina Grewal (Radio host of Red FM)
  • Community Champion: Michelle Di Tomaso (Co-founder of Dense Breasts Canada)
  • Entrepreneurship & Innovation: Mia Fiona Kut (CEO of Luna Nectar) 
  • Health & Wellness: Dr. Julie Wilson (Founder and medical director of Terra Nova Medical Clinics) and Vivian Eliopoulos (President and CEO of Vancouver Coastal Health)
  • Non-Profit: Chelsea Minhas (Chief program officer of Covenant House Vancouver) and Dr. Renee Fernandez (Executive director of BC Family Doctors)
  • Outstanding Workplace: Sage and Terra Nova Medical Clinics 
  • Reconciliation in Action - Ally: Sarah McIntosh (Senior executive director of operations of Atira Women’s Resource Society)

Award recipients will be announced at the awards gala held at Westin Bayshore in Vancouver on May 13. Tickets available online.
