Richmond RCMP is appealing for drivers to review dashcam footage after a one-vehicle crash closed a section of No. 5 Road for several hours.

Shortly after 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26, Richmond Mounties responded to the 9100 block of No.5 Road – between Blundell and Williams roads - for a report of a single vehicle collision.

The crash, according to police, happened when the vehicle, driven by a man in his 30s from Langley, struck both a utility pole and a lamppost.

The driver was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, but the debris was scattered over such a wide area that a large portion of No. 5 Road had to be shut down for several hours for the investigation.

Speed and alcohol, say police, are “believed to be factors in this collision.”

Police are asking anyone who has any information about the collision to contact Const. Z. Sharoom, of the Richmond RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team, at 604-278-1212 and quote file# 2019-38770.

The police are also asking drivers who may have been in the area at the time to review their dashcam footage and contact them.
