No buses are running in Richmond on Monday due to job action.

Buses in Richmond, and across Metro Vancouver, are not running Monday morning (Jan. 22) due to strike action.

The Canada Line, along with SkyTrain, Westcoast Express and some local shuttle services, however, aren't affected by the 48-hour strike.

CUPE Local 4500, which represents 180 transit supervisors, were in negotiations Sunday night but failed to reach any agreement, triggering Monday's strike.

The employer, Coast Mountain Bus Company, released a statement this morning claiming it had offered overtime pay, increased benefits and to hire more supervisors, but its offer had been rejected by the union.

While the 48-hour strike affects most buses, train services, Handy DART, West Vancouver Blue Bus, Bowen Island and Langley community shuttles are not affected.

The Seabus is not running on Monday morning.

The strike is only expected to last until Wednesday, Jan. 24.
