Richmond RCMP is searching for a driver who picked up a vintage violin from the road on Wednesday afternoon.
Police received a report around 12:25 p.m. on July 16 of a violin falling out of an open trunk at Francis and Gilbert roads, near the entrance of a commercial plaza.
The violin is a 1920 Carlo Micelli and was inside a black rectangular hard case with red lining. The case has two straps on the bottom so that it can be worn like a backpack.
The violin is engraved with "Carlo Micelli Anno 1920."
Witnesses in the area told police they saw a newer model blue pickup truck pull over. The driver got out, picked up the violin and placed it in the vehicle.
“We hope by making this appeal, that anyone with information about the whereabouts of the violin will come forward,” said Cpl. Melissa Lui, media relations officer of Richmond RCMP.
Investigators want to reunite the missing item with its rightful owner and urge the driver who picked up the violin to call the Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212, quoting file number 2025-22721.
Anyone with information or dash cam footage in the area regarding this incident should also contact the police.
