Renowned Hong Kong actress passes away in Richmond home

A renowned Hong Kong actress passed away in her Richmond home on Sunday.

Ying Li was an actress who starred in many well-known Hong Kong TV series and films from the 1970s to 1990s.

She passed away on Feb. 25 at the age of 70, according to Hong Kong media.

Manling Wong, Li's friend and a Hong Kong-based media personality, expressed condolences to Li on her Instagram account on Sunday.

Li joined Asia Television (then Rediffusion Television) in 1970 and became one of the network's most popular actresses at the time.

She played leading roles in many renowned Hong Kong productions including Eighteen Springs, Blowing in the Wind and Network.

Li and her family immigrated to Vancouver in 1988 and they had lived between Richmond and Hong Kong since then.

In 1996, she received the China Folk Literature and Arts Medal Film Performance Award from the Beijing-based China Folk Literature and Arts Association.
