Record low set, snow expected on long weekend

Snow expected on Monday, Family Day, but it's expected to change to rain by Tuesday.

Environment Canada is forecasting snow as early as Sunday this long weekend as Richmond continues to be mired in a cold snap that set a record low temperature reading for Feb.6.

Early Thursday morning Vancouver International Airport recorded a low of -8.4 C, according to readings displayed on its website. That marks a record low, the previous being -7.8 C set in 1948. 

On Saturday the high is expected to hover around zero degress, while the low is expected to drop to -7 C. The good news is that there will nary be a cloud in the sky. Sunday is expected to be equally cold and the national weather service is expecting a 30 per cent chance of flurries. Snow expected on Monday, Children's Day, but it's expected to change to rain by Tuesday.
