Despite ghouls and goblins parading across the city last night for Halloween, Richmond RCMP reported a relatively quiet night.

According to the detachment’s media relations officer, Cpl. Dennis Hwang, Halloween was “well received.”

“The weather played a role in keeping much at bay,” with many people apparently taking in the City of Richmond’s official Halloween celebrations at Minoru Park.

Various other community events were “extremely well organized” added Hwang, where RCMP were visibly active in the safety planning alongside them.

According to Hwang, the RCMP’s Road Safety Unit issued 50 violation tickets for speed related offences, while less fireworks were seized than in past years.

He noted that he was unware of any marihuana seizures and the amounts of liquor seized by officers was “very low.”
