Update: Power back on for more than 5,700 Richmond residents

Most outages have been restored.

More than 5,700 Richmond BC Hydro customers have regained power following a wind and rain storm on Tuesday evening.

According to BC Hydro's outage map, 1,704 residents south of Fraser Reach Court, north of Westminster Highway and west of Highway 91 has been without power just shortly after 10 p.m.

A downed wire shut down power for 2,683 customers in the area west of Highway 99, east of No. 3 Road, south of Granville Avenue and north of Williams Road around 10:40 p.m.

They join the 24 customers in the 9400 to 9700 block of Patterson Road who also lost power due to a downed wire around 10:10 p.m.

Elsewhere in Richmond, 338 residents in the area south of Dennis Crescent, west of Highway 99 and east of Gilbert Road lost power shortly before 10 p.m.

As well, 209 customers in the area south of Fortune Avenue, north of Windjammer Drive, east of Canso Crescent and west of Hollymount Drive and 684 customers south of Blundell Road, west of Hopcott Road, east of No. 5 Road were also in the dark since around 10:30 p.m. and 10:40 p.m. respectively.

Subsequently at 10:46 p.m., 176 Seafair residents west of Elsmore Road, east of Seafair Drive, south of Fairbrook Crescent and north of Francis Road lost power as well.

Most of the outages have since been restored. Crews are currently on-site addressing outages caused by downed trees across wires in areas near the 7200 to 8900 block of Sidaway Rad and 12700 to 13000 block of Blundell Road, as well as north of Alexandra Road, south of Odlin Road, east of Brown Road and west of Garden City Road.
