A bubble tea shop specializing in yogurt drinks was closed for three days last week due to unsanitary conditions and a pest infestation.
Hey! I am Yogost in Lansdowne Centre got shut down on July 11 after a routine inspection revealed four critical infractions.
According to the Vancouver Coastal Health inspection report, signs of rodent activity were found at the shop and “equipment, utensils and/or food contact surfaces (were) not maintained/used in a manner that ensures safe and sanitary food handling.”
The shop's manual dishwashing procedure was found to be improper for removing contamination.
Two critical infractions, the lack of washing and sanitization procedure to remove contamination and the failure to properly supply and maintain hand washing stations, were corrected during the inspection.
Previous records from a routine inspection last February show similar findings related to rodent activity and the shop's manual dishwashing procedure.
The shop reopened on July 14 after a follow-up inspection determined it had resolved all of its critical infractions, including getting rid of all the pests.
The follow-up inspection report shows three outstanding non-critical issues remaining: no employee held a valid Foodsafe or equivalent certificate while the owner or operator was absent, temperature records are not being used to monitor critical limits and sanitation plan procedures are not being followed.
