It seems like many of us are still not keen on leaving the country, despite the federal government dropping the need for a PCR test to re-enter Canada

Despite the federal government this week announcing it was dropping the need for a negative PCR test to re-enter Canada, more than 51 per cent of Richmond News readers polled said they don't see themselves travelling any time soon.

The reason for that could be that you still need to provide a negative rapid test for COVID-19 before being allowed back in from a foreign country.

Richmond News polled 533 Richmond News readers and asked the question: How quickly will you be on a flight out of the country if the federal government cancels the negative PCR test rule for re-entry to Canada?

The poll ran from 2/14/2022 to 2/17/2022. Of the 533 votes, we can determine that 129 are from within the community. The full results are as follows:

As soon as the PCR test requirement is removed 20.93 % local, 24.02 % total
Spring break 3.88 % local, 4.88 % total
Two months 6.98 % local, 5.82 % total
The summer 13.95 % local, 14.07 % total
Not for the foreseeable future 54.26 % local, 51.22 % total

Results are based on an online study of adult Richmond News readers that are located in Vancouver. The margin of error - which measures sample variability - is +/- 4.24%, 19 times out of 20.
