Over the past 140 years, Richmond has transformed from a fishing community into a thriving multicultural city.
To celebrate the city’s 140th birthday, two Richmond-based non-profit organizations organized the celebration and award ceremony on Dec. 15 at the River Rock Show Theatre.
Hundreds of people from different communities and cultural groups attended the gala. More than 10 distinguished individuals and local organizations were given awards in recognition of their long-time contributions to the city, including the Richmond News.
The event, held by the Canadian Alliance of Chinese Association and the North America Artist Association, featured two-hour long cultural performances to tell the story of the city’s past, present and future.
