The Richmond Rendevous in the 1970s was a popular "classy" joint on No. 3 Road

It had many faces during the decades.

Lacey’s Steakhouse, Friday’s Steakhouse, Fireside, Jim’s on Three and Richmond Rendezvous, but to name a few.

No matter what this joint - on No. 3 Road in the city centre – was called, it seemed to be ‘the” classy go-to place to eat, drink and socialize from at least the ‘60s through to the ‘90s.

Rendezvous was the place to "dine and dance"

Going by the City of Richmond Archives’ photo, dated 1971, the Rendezvous was advertised as a place to “dine and dance.”

On the Friends of the Richmond Archives’ Facebook page, former customers recalled some warm memories, not least one whose dad used to have an expense account there, where the family had “food flambé” for the first time.

Many others remembered having weddings and special occasions at the restaurant, during its many guises.

One particular memory was of the “carpet bagger” dinner and “great Spanish coffees” to end the meal.
