Work to repair the Cambie Overpass – damaged by a truck hitting it last year – will being in late May for five weeks, causing some overnight traffic disruptions.

Richmond city council approved $1.4 million to repair the overpass, but city staff said they are working with ICBC for compensation.

The repairs will take place between May 27 and July 1 between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. One lane will remain open at all times during repairs on Knight Street, the city noted, and there will be no lane closures during the day.

The outer westbound lane of Cambie Road will remain closed, and there will be two days when the inner lane will also be closed. The city will send out notifications later for these two specific days.

The overpass was damaged in February 2023 when a truck, with its trailer raised into a vertical position, drove into it.

The city will install information signs on the Cambie overpass and its approaches.

Drivers are reminded to observe all signs, reduce speed in the construction zone to ensure safety, and consider avoiding the area during the repair work.
