Richmond firefighters responded to a fire overnight in a commercial building on Bridgeport Road just west of Knight Street.
They were able to extinguish it quickly, but there were “preliminary indications” that the fire was of a suspicious nature, city spokesperson Ted Townsend told the Richmond News.
“It is still too early to make a definitive call on cause,” he said, adding fire investigators were still on scene Thursday morning.
No injuries were reported, and RCMP officers secured the two-storey commercial building.
Crews are trying to salvage what they can from the businesses, Townsend added.
