A Richmond woman is having a fantastic start to the new year after winning the Lotto Max Extra.
Zahra Madahany couldn’t quite believe her eyes when she won $500,000 in a draw held on Dec. 21.
“I had to make sure I was seeing it correctly,” said Madahany. “I scanned it again and again and counted the zeros.”
Madahany said she plans to use her winnings to travel with her family members, who want to go to Thailand or possibly Madrid. For Madahany, however, a trip to connect with her roots is top of mind.
“I want to go to India,” she said. “Maybe take a bit off the mortgage as well.”
Madahany said she usually waits to buy a ticket when large prizes are at stake and hadn’t bought a ticket for some time. She purchased this winning ticket at the Dodi Market in Vancouver.
