A six-storey building with offices, restaurants and commercial spaces is being proposed for Leslie Road in Richmond.

A proposal to build a six-storey commercial building in Richmond's Golden Village is crawling through the city's review process more than three years after the application was submitted.

According to signage on Leslie Road at Hazelbridge Way, Billard Architecture applied in December 2020 to rezone 8180 to 8300 Leslie Road from single-family homes to construct a six-storey building and create a new city park.

The building, which will span 8200 to 8300 Leslie Road, is expected to have around 6,430 square metres of light industrial space, 780 square metres of office space, 450 square metres of restaurant space and 125 square metres of commercial space.

Access to the building will be from Hazelbridge Way.

According to the Richmond Interactive Map, the area includes six parcels of land each with a value of around $1.75 million.

Robert Billard, Billard Architecture spokesperson, told the Richmond News he last spoke with the city two weeks ago and confirmed the applications are still under staff review. However, he was optimistic the project could be advanced for committee consideration "any day."

City spokesperson Clay Adams added that staff are "actively working" with the developer, but "there is no definitive timeline for when the application will be ready for consideration right now."
