Have you ever seen a lion dance in a Catholic Church?

To make the Lunar New Year more inclusive, a Richmond-based Catholic church made a music video featuring a lion dance in a church with a popular Chinese New Year song.

St. Joseph the Worker Parish updated their YouTube channel Friday with a special video dedicated to celebrating the Lunar New Year.

Richmondite Willan Leung said he and his friends shot this video and the theme is “celebration has no boundary.”

“We picked the most popular Chinese New Year song, rearranged the music with western instruments, then asked a few Caucasians to learn and sing in Mandarin. We believe celebrations could happen anywhere, with anyone, with any language, age, gender and religious background,” said Leung.

The video is now online with English subtitles.
