Richmond Mounties are appealing for witnesses or dashcam footage after a hit and run in the city centre.

According to the RCMP, a cyclist was hit at around 3 p.m. last Friday, Sept. 24 in the 8200-block of Granville Avenue, near Value Village.

Police say the cyclist was riding eastbound in the bike lane when a silver Honda SUV allegedly clipped the back of his bike, causing him to lose control.

One person who did witness the accident said the driver of the SUV initially got out of his car and looked at the cyclist, before driving off without giving any information.

The witness did, however, manage to catch a partial license plate of 73B for the vehicle.

The driver is described as:

•        Asian male

•        Mid-40s

•        Slim build

The cyclist, say police, was taken to hospital where he was treated for his injuries and then released.
