All four teams playing in the Cyclone Taylor Cup at the Minoru Arenas in Richmond Thursday night paid tribute to the victims of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash with a moment of silence.
At the opening ceremonies for the cup, which will determine the BC Junior B hockey championship, all four participating teams gathered at centre to recognize the tragedy.
The Cyclone Taylor Cup and host Richmond Sockeyes are donating all proceeds from 50/50 sales at the tournament to the Humboldt memorial fund.
The Pacific Junior Hockey League, Kootenay International Junior Hockey League and Vancouver International Junior Hockey League will match the total to a maximum amount.
So far, the amount raised, before matching totals, has reached around $1,000 after one day.
The Cyclone Taylor Cup continues through Sunday. Schedule is at CycloneTaylorCup.ca.
