A missing vintage violin and its owner have been reunited.

Richmond RCMP received a report on Wednesday, July 16 of a 1920 Carlo Micelli falling out of an open trunk at Francis and Gilbert roads. Witnesses told police they saw a Good Samaritan picking it up off the road.

On Tuesday, the Good Samaritan reached out to police after seeing a media report whereby police were appealing to the finder to turn it in.

"I'm happy to help," the finder told the Richmond RCMP.

"I'm sure anyone would do the same, especially when they know it is a cherished item."

The owner of the violin expressed gratitude to the Good Samaritan and the community for their support.

"I want to thank the man who found my violin and turned it in," said the owner.

"To the public, I hope my story shows the importance of making a police report and also the value of reporting found items to police in case someone is looking for it."
