Richmond RCMP say a man found dead in east Richmond Saturday morning may have been killed during a “shooting incident,” which appears to have been targeted.

Mounties said in a news release that they were called to the scene of an “unresponsive male found in the ditch,” around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, one kilometre east of 17100 Cambie Road, near No. 8 Road.

“Upon arrival, officers located a deceased male who may have been killed during what appears to be a shooting incident,” RCMP said in the release.

“The investigation is still in its early stages, but initial indications are that this incident is targeted and does not appear to be a random act.”

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called in and will be working with Richmond RCMP.

Anyone with information or dash-cam footage related to this incident is asked to contact IHIT at 1-877-551-4448 or [email protected].
