Richmond School District has hired a new assistant superintendent, Christel Brautigam, following the retirement of her predecessor Wendy Lim.
Brautigam has worked for the school district for 25 years as a teacher, school-based administrator and, most recently, as director of instruction for curriculum and technology.
Brautigam comes into the leadership position with a “wealth of experience” combined with a “calm and thoughtful approach,” according to an announcement from the school district.
In her new role, Brautigam will be responsible for directly supporting schools in addition to other district-level responsibilities.
“Since joining the district’s executive team in 2018, Ms. Brautigam has worked hard to deepen her already impressive understanding of the complexities of the school district, voluntarily taking on leadership roles in a number of areas that have broadened substantially during her short time in the role,” the announcement stated, praising her as a “collaborative district leader” who listens and responds with empathy and compassion.
In addition to Brautigam, the top management team at the Richmond School District consists of superintendent Scott Robinson, deputy superintendent Rick Ryan, assistant superintendent Lynn Archer and secretary-treasurer Roy Uyeno.
