Letters: Long grass in Richmond hides dog faeces

A Richmond News reader says a perceived lack of grass-cutting is hiding dog poo from kids running through it

Dear Editor,

As many neighbourhoods have noticed lately, the City of Richmond is not mowing their property in and around pedestrian walkways and street right-of-ways.

I’m sure there are a variety of economic explanations for this change in practice but my concern is more community-oriented. Our walkway is used by many four-legged friends and the long grass makes the feces “difficult” to locate.

I have observed this myself in my neighbourhood. The real problem is that our children are excited to run through the soft, tall grass as part of their outdoor play. Need I say more?

I’m sure off-leash areas must be receiving cutting service...please extend the same service to these frequently used paths.

Thank you.
