Imagine knowing when to go for it in life and knowing when to play it safe.
Imagine being able to tee yourself up for the moment lady luck smiles on you or bracing yourself for impact when bad fortune befalls.
These are just some of the skills Sally Liu says you can arm yourself with if you attend one of her Luck Workshop events, being run this summer through Richmond Continuing Education.
Using Chinese astrology, the ancient art of feng shui and a computer, Liu claims people will be able to identify when luck good and bad is about to enter their lives.
Depending on which cycle their luck is in, Liu said people will be able to either cash in on good fortune or prepare to ride out a storm.
I will explain to them how to translate the luck cycles from their birthday, so they can see where to make the most of their opportunities, said Liu, who also teaches office and accounting programs at Richmond Continuing Ed and BIS Computer Training Center.
And they will also be able to identify what periods they may come up against some tough obstacles in their lives. Being forewarned is forearmed, she added.
We will be punching numbers into a computer program and a sheet will get printed out. I will then show them how to read the print-out.
We will look at different celebrities and some relatives perhaps and how their luck has been translated. We wont look at each individuals luck cycles in the (four-hour) workshop in front of everyone else.
She claims, in a modern computer lab, they will examine how Chinese astrology can accurately and systematically translate a persons birthday into the luck cycles.
This is a fun course that guides you through supported celebrity examples and encourages plenty of in-class practice, she added.
At the end of the workshop, you will know that luck is no coincidence. Maybe you can gain control of your life with this knowledge.
Perhaps it has something to do with job cycles; if you know youre entering a period of good luck and theres a job youve always wanted, maybe you can study for it.
This also applies to investments. This is all based on science, not weird superstition stuff.
Liu said she introduced her technological approach to the science of astrology and feng shui and has set up many feng shui layouts for businesses and residents.
She also offers luck consultations to students.
So far, I have achieved over 90 per cent accuracy in my readings, Liu added.
She said people that attend the workshops usually want to know how to better read themselves.
If they have knowledge of themselves, they can help themselves more, she said.
The Luck Workshop started last year and has grown in popularity, with another two one-day events lined up for July 21 and Aug. 17.
What got me started was when I realized that hard work and determination mean nothing when you are going through a bad luck cycle, explained Liu.
On the contrary, things fall from the sky when you are going through a good luck cycle, although you may think it is due to your wits and endurance.
The workshop costs $55 for one session. You can register by logging onto the Richmond School District website at http://booking.sd38.bc.ca/bksd38pub/courses/index.asp. The course identification is 58888-01D.
