Forget hot yoga, hatha yoga, and even yoga with bunnies, as an upcoming free yoga class will give a whole new meaning to the term “laughter is the best medicine.”
Ha, Ha, Ha! Session: Free laughter yoga, hosted by Richmond Laughter Club, will take place at Lansdowne Centre on Tuesday evening, and people of all ages can join the event to de-stress and reinvigorate their minds and bodies.
Laughter yoga is a type of a yoga that involves laughing voluntarily for a long period of time. Participating yogis can even fake their laughter until it becomes real, if they don’t immediately find humour in the situation. What matters is that the yogi performs the action of laughing.
Marja Pirie, a guest teacher and laughter ambassador, will mix yogic breathing with interactive laughter exercises to help all participants tap into a pathway to happiness.
Laughter yoga doesn’t require attendees to have prior experience, and they also don’t need to twist or contort their bodies to achieve yoga poses. No mats, equipment, or special clothing are required.
Anyone is welcome to attend with an open mind, willingness, and water.
The laughter yoga event will take place at Richmond Center for Disabilities at Lansdowne Centre at 6:30 p.m.
