The TD Bank Group donated a total of $10,000 to support Richmond Hospital Foundation’s Mental Health campaign as a way to appreciate the hospital’s efforts in serving the community.

Funds will benefit the hospital’s Person and Family Centred Care at the in-patient acute mental health unit, according to Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) in a media release.

Tony Mauro, district vice president at TD Bank Group, said no one should feel ashamed for living with a mental illness and they applaud the foundation for creating a space to allow patients to seek urgent mental health support with “respect and dignity.”

“TD is proud to contribute to Richmond Hospital Foundation for its ongoing work in serving the community and driving better health outcomes for all,” said Mauro.

Natalie Meixner, President and CEO, Richmond Hospital Foundation, said they feel fortunate to be receiving the donation, which will help build welcoming and transformative spaces to support Richmond Hospital.

TD has also supported the foundation for the past two decades, said VCH in a statement.

To recognize its contributions over the years, TD has also been awarded Richmond Hospital Foundation’s Doctor of Philanthropy Award, a distinction honouring donors who have contributed more than $50,000 to improve health care at Richmond Hospital.
