The Vancouver Amateur Golf League raised $22,000 to benefit the Richmond Hospital Foundation.
An award and fundraiser dinner with over 300 people was held for the golf league's sixth season on July 1 with eight golf clubs coming together to help raise funds to increase the quality care at Richmond Hospital.
"Richmond is unique in nature as it serves not only its residents and businesses but also the thousands of passengers who pass through Vancouver International Airport," said Lu Lu, event committee member at Vancouver Amateur Golf League.
"With the philanthropic spirit of all eight golf clubs and our event sponsors, we are proud to contribute towards health care here and take part in ensuring that everyone has access to the highest quality of care when they need it most.”
Spender Gall, campaign director at Richmond Hospital Foundation, said it is inspiring to see sports uniting people "both in sports and philanthropy.
"Funds raised will play a crucial role in supporting Richmond’s health care team as they continue to provide expert and compassionate care, positively impacting individuals and families in our community.”
The Richmond Hospital Foundation has raised over $130 million to help fund medical equipment, improve patient care services and upgrade facilities.
