Korean hot dog chain to open Richmond location

The Korean-style corn dog chain is bringing its rice hot dogs to the city.

A new Korean-style corn dog chain is set to open its second B.C. outpost this summer.

Chung Chun Rice Hot Dog, a Korean brand with over 200 franchise locations worldwide, is setting up shop in Richmond at 6020 No. 3 Road, in the former Mickey’s Convenience store location.

The fast food shop features different variations of corn dogs that are dipped and deep-fried in rice or squid ink batter with options to stuff the corn dogs with mozzarella, cheddar cheese or more.

There are also a variety of extra toppings to allow people to add to, including honey butter, mustard, noodle bits or crispy potatoes.

“The feature of Chungchun hot dog is sticky rice in dough fermented for 120 minutes every morning. Therefore, it has a strongly chewy and crispy taste,” according to Chung Chun’ website.

Established in 2019, Chung Chun first opened several franchises in Southern California and later arrived in Canada, which includes a downtown Vancouver location.

Chung Chun staff told the Richmond News that the Richmond location is expected to open up within the next month.
