An internal investigation is underway at Vancouver International Airport after a traveller passed through airport security Saturday night with a pocket knife.
The passenger, who was travelling internationally, returned to a screening officer later, and turned in the blade. The passenger was re-screened, and no other non-permitted items were found, the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority said on Sunday.
"While these incidents are rare, we take them seriously," authority spokes-man Mathieu Larocque said in an email. "We are currently investigating and we will take corrective actions, if required."
The early indication is that it was an accident, he said.
