1: B.C. travel agent advises Canadians to avoid non-essential travel amid Omicron COVID-19 spread

B.C.'s travel agents support the federal government's suggestion by advising Canadians to rethink their international travel plans as the Omicron COVID-19 variant spreads at an unprecedented rate across the country. 

Vancouver travel agent Glynnis Chan said, although she works in the tourism industry, she understands and fully supports the federal government's latest announcement - avoiding all non-essential travel, regardless of the vaccination status.

2: Richmond immigrant couple made their Canadian dream come true by building a wildly successful business 

Richmond's Herbaland was recently named the Large Business of the Year, an award given out by the Richmond Chamber of Commerce to honour local businesses' outstanding achievements.

3: Returning immigrants to Canada are likely to receive higher wages, a new report finds 

Returning immigrants to Canada are likely to make more money than their Canadian peers if they have previous working or studying experience in this country, according to the latest report from Statistics Canada. 

Newcomers who have previous experience in studying or working in Canada could earn a median entry wage of $44,600, which is almost $5,800 higher than Canadian peers. 

However, for immigrants who have no pre-admission Canadian experience, their median entry wage is only $25,700.

4: A Chinese-Canadian businessman transformed his mega mansion into a winter wonderland 

A Chinese-Canadian businessman transformed his luxury home in West Vancouver into a Christmas wonderland, attracting people to stop by to take photos. 

Zhuang Shen said he owns a 12,000 square-foot exhibition gallery in China and the unique part of this space is that the themes of the exhibition will change from time to time to meet different people's needs. 

Shen notes that he is excited to continue this transformation project in his Canadian home. He welcomes people to take photos from the outside, but people aren't allowed to come in.

5: Canadian housing prices hit high of $720,850 in November

Last month, the average selling price of homes in Canada reached $720,850, breaking last year's record. 

The Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) said that more than 630,634 houses have been sold this year, topping the previous record of $552,423 in 2020.
