A former Richmond Mountie involved in tragic Robert Dziekanski death at YVR has been convicted for lying at a public inquiry into the incident.

Benjamin “Monty” Robinson was charged along with three other officers following their testimony at hearings into the events leading to Dziekanski being stunned with a Taser and later dying at Vancouver Airport in October 2007.

Robinson is the second of the officers to be convicted of perjury. One of them was acquitted, while another is still waiting on a verdict.

Robinson, who is in his mid-40s, left the RCMP in 2012.

Const. Bill Bentley was acquitted of the perjury charge in 2013, though the Crown is appealing the verdict.

Const. Kwesi Millington was convicted last month and is awaiting a sentencing hearing.

Const. Gerry Rundel’s trial has finished and he is waiting for a verdict.
