A former Richmond high school basketball star is continuing to make waves in the U.S. college basketball circuit.

Former Steveston-London Shark Fardaws Aimaq is currently the nation’s leading rebounder, averaging 15.4 rebounds a game for his Utah Valley NCAA division 1 team.

As it stands, Aimaq is almost three points ahead of his nearest rival and is course to record the division’s highest rebound average since the 1978-79 season.

And with two more conference games before the playoffs, his team are either going as the number one or number two seed.

Aimaq transferred last fall to the Western Athletic Conference NCAA Division One school after spending the previous season at Mercer University in Georgia.

While with the Sharks in Steveston, he won two city titles, three district titles, earned three city MVP awards and three district MVP honours.

This season, Aimaq has recorded 14 double doubles in 19 games and 14.8 pts per game.
