A five-year-old Richmond resident has designed hundreds of pairs of earrings to bring Christmas bling to people in need during the holidays.

Estella Celeste Banez is ready to throw a jewelry party with a fashion show to showcase her “bling-bling,” on Dec. 7 and 14 at Richmond Caring Place.

The jewelry party will feature a variety of earrings, bracelets, and hair accessories, which are all designed and handcrafted by Estella and assembled by her mother, Kaye Liao Banez.

Partial funds raised from the party will be donated to the Richmond Christmas Fund --- run by Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives, but one-hundred percent of business sponsorships and donations are donated to the Richmond Christmas Fund.

“Even if you have sensitive ears, we have metal-free earrings, and if your ears are not pierced, you can wear our comfy slip-on earrings. These earrings are designed for everyone,” said Estella.

When the Richmond News asked what the highlight of the party will be, Estella replied: “Snacks and the fashion show.”

Considering this is going to be Estella’s first-ever fashion show, she has been focusing on figuring out how to move her arms and pose on stage. But the most important thing is showcasing these handmade products to the public.

Estella and her mother have invited models from their friend group and the local community for the fashion show.

“My friends feel super-duper excited and shy for our upcoming performance. I welcome everyone to come to my party,” said Estella.

According to Banez, the fact that they plan to host the event at the Caring Place is significant because the name resonates with Estella as she genuinely cares for families in need, especially the babies.

“Estella loves taking care of others no matter at home or school,” said Banez.

Apart from being a mother of two children, Banez is a children’s author who has been selling her books at various local events as a means to fundraise for the Richmond Christmas Fund.

In 2017, the book-launching event went very well, with Estella and her mom raising more than $840, followed by another $200 last year.

Regardless, Estella still wanted to do more and help more families in need this year, said Banez.

The event will take place on Saturday, Dec. 7 and 14 at 7000 Minoru Blvd. from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
