It wasn’t gunfire but it turned out to be something just as sinister when police responded to calls from the public Tuesday night.
About 10:40 p.m., Richmond RCMP were called to a residence in the 8000 block of No. 1 Road, between Francis and Blundell roads, for reports of possible gunfire.
According to police, no evidence was found to suggest shots were fired. However, damage was discovered that was “consistent with the detonation of an improvised explosive device.”
No one was reportedly injured and the occupants of the home in question have been cooperative with police.
The Richmond RCMP’s General Investigative Section is on the case, along with assistance from Integrated Forensic Identification Services (IFIS) and the LMD Explosives Disposal Unit (EDU).
“Richmond RCMP is still trying to determine the motive for this incident,” said Cpl. Dennis Hwang.
“Luckily, no one was injured, but the possibility that someone could have been is cause for us to be concerned.”
