DPD investigating fatal collision in Tsawwassen

An early morning two-vehicle collision in Tsawwassen has claimed the life of a 45-year-old Delta woman. Delta police confirmed the information in a news release just before noon Monday. The collision took place at approximately 6:10 a.m.

An early morning two-vehicle collision in Tsawwassen has claimed the life of a 45-year-old Delta woman.

Delta police confirmed the information in a news release just before noon Monday.

The collision took place at approximately 6:10 a.m., according to police.

Police say the woman’s vehicle had been travelling westbound on 16th Ave. while a pick-up truck had been travelling northbound on 56th St. when the collision occurred in the intersection.

“At this point the cause of the collision remains under investigation and police are not in a position to comment on possible causes,” said DPD spokesperson Cris Leykauf. “Next of kin notification has been completed, and victim services is being offered to both the family of the deceased as well as the other driver involved in the collision.”

Police are still on scene and the investigation is continuing. The driver of the truck is cooperating fully with police.

“We want to thank motorists for their patience as they allow police and emergency health services complete their work on site,” added Leykauf.
