A COVID-19 outbreak at a Richmond long-term care home has been declared over.

Restrictions were lifted at Fraserview Retirement Community on Jan. 13, according to Vancouver Coastal Health.

The outbreak was first declared on Jan. 2, after 10 residents tested positive for the virus on the first and second floors of the facility, on Williams Road near No. 4 Road.

As of Jan. 11, there had been 34 cases of the virus, including 28 residents and six staff members, and one resident had died, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

Across Richmond, there were 456 new COVID-19 cases between Jan. 4 to 10, down from 567 the previous week.

On Friday, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said that transmission of the Omicron variant has likely peaked in B.C., while hospitalizations could peak in the province in a week or two.
