A staff member at a Shoppers Drug Mart in Richmond has tested positive for COVID-19.

Loblaws Inc, which owns the chain, announced on its website that a member of their team at the Shoppers at Blundell Centre on No. 2 and Blundell roads tested positive.

The company said the last day the employee worked was on Oct. 23.

However, Vancouver Coastal Health has not listed the store in its list of public exposure locations and Loblaws is only posting the positive employee cases for transparency.

The company, which also owns the Real Canadian Superstore and Loblaws City Market brands, notified the public of similar employee cases across the region, from Surrey to Whistler.

The affected store locations and dates are as follows:

Real Canadian Superstore, 8195 Scott Road, Delta: The last day the team member worked was on October 25.

Loblaws City Market, 1650 Lonsdale Ave, North Vancouver: The last day the team member worked was on October 24.

Shoppers Drug Mart, 4295 Blackcomb Way, Whistler: The last day the team member worked was on October 28.

The stores are not listed by either Fraser Health or VCH in their public exposure locations.

“In these cases, we work closely with public health and follow their guidance to ensure proper notification of close contacts and required cleaning and sanitization in our stores," Loblaws stated on its website.

“Whenever we have a positive case, we arrange for additional cleaning, and we work closely with the local public health unit to determine the appropriate next steps, including identifying and notifying close contacts. Anyone who meets that criteria from the store is asked to go home, self-isolate and monitor for symptoms.”
