Richmond city councillors will review the city's updated Truth and Reconciliation report this week.

The report looks into how the city advances reconciliation in Richmond and is in response to a referral from Nov. 21, 2022 on establishing a Truth and Reconciliation Policy.

This is on the agenda for Monday's 7 p.m. city council meeting.

Richmond resident Karina Reid will also be speaking at the city council in hopes to change the city's 2017 decision on banning cannabis retail stores in the city.

Meanwhile, the development permit panel will be reviewing several requests at Wednesday's meeting.

A developer is looking to develop two industrial buildings at 9800 Van Home Way.

According to a city staff report, the owner has the intention to sell the buildings as "strata titled units" after the project is completed.

Another applicant is applying for a permit to build 22 townhouse units and two secondary suites at 8951 and 8971 Spires Road as well as 8991 Spires Gate.
