A full agenda is scheduled for the Richmond City Council meeting tonight.
The meeting, which takes place Mondays at 7 p.m., will discuss a variety of agenda items from the arts, environment and the city hall flag policy.
But before that, Magnus Sinclair, coordinator of Richmond's parks programs, will unveil the winners of this year's Street Banner Contest.
The 10 winning designs will be shown for the first time at Richmond City Hall and later hung along the streets of Richmond for the rest of the year.
City councillors today will discuss about the missing trees along Russ Baker Way, which were planted 20 years ago to act as a buffer between the busy road and the Burkeville neighbourhood.
According to Monday's city council agenda, staff is recommending council to write a letter to the chair of the YVR Board of Directors requesting a situation assessment and plans for replanting the missing trees
Also on the agenda, councillors will discuss whether to make adjustments to the City of Richmond's flag policy.
City staff have made several suggestions for the city council to consider regarding the policy including changing flags for specific causes that would be flown every year or creating a community flag program, which could potentially cost $22,500 a year to administer, according to the city staff report.
Community safety committee (Tuesday, Mar. 14)
A spokesperson for transit police will be speaking to the committee at Richmond's monthly community safety meeting.
Safety committee members will discuss whether to support the idea of city bylaw officers becoming peace officers.
The meeting will look at monthly safety reports from animal protection services, parking enforcement, Richmond RCMP and Richmond Fire-Rescue.
