Richmond is still under a snowfall warning after receiving a dump of snow on Sunday with more expected to come.
While all Richmond public schools were open Monday, some private schools and one post-secondary closed due to the weather. The school district is expected to announce Tuesday morning whether public schools will remain open.

Confirmed Richmond private school closures include
- Az-Zahraa Islamic Academy
- Canada Star Secondary School
- Choice School
- Cornerstone Christian Academy
- St. Joseph the Worker
- St. Paul’s School
Kwantlen Polytechnic University has also cancelled its classes at all campuses today, including in Richmond.

Meanwhile, one Grade 12 Richmond student has started a petition to see all Richmond schools closed. The petition has received thousands of signatures.
“This would be in the best interests for the safety of the parents and students who are part of the Richmond schools,” Muhammad Ghumman wrote, who goes to Richmond Secondary School.
Snowfall warning still in place
Environment Canada updated its snowfall warning Monday morning, stating more snow was expected on the South Coast starting Monday afternoon and continuing into Tuesday morning.
“This second disturbance will spread snow to virtually the entire South Coast with heaviest amounts falling tonight,” Environment Canada's statement says. “Total snowfall amounts will vary across the region with 10 to 15 cm falling in most areas with somewhat higher amounts possible on Vancouver Island.”

Currently, Richmond’s weather forecast calls for snow on Monday, with a chance of flurries on Tuesday. While Wednesday is expected to be clear and sunny, snow or rain is in the forecast for the rest of the week.

With more snowfall expected, the City of Richmond is remind residents and business owners to clear their sidwalks and walkways by 10 a.m. each morning.

Additionally, travelers passing through Vancouver International Airport are being reminded to check flight statuses before heading to the airport.
