There’s only two weeks left to have your say on the City of Richmond’s community energy and emissions plan.

The city is asking residents to take part in an online survey, which runs until Aug. 18, to help shape and update the plan.

The survey is asking residents to share their thoughts on buildings, transportation, natural landscapes and urban form.

The city's community energy and emissions plan was first adopted in 2014, and helps guide Richmond's climate actions towards reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

The city is looking to update the emissions plan following a report published last year by the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which highlighted the importance of limiting global average warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.

The IPCC report also provided GHG emission reduction targets required to achieve this goal.

For the city, the updated emissions plan would reflect the IPCC report, including reducing GHG emissions by 50 per cent by 2030, and achieving net-zero GHG emissions by 2050.
