Richmond residents will have an extra three months to pay their 2020 Flat Rate Utility Bill due to COVID-19.
The City of Richmond announced on Monday that the utility bill due date has been extended from March 31 to June 30 because of the “rapidly evolving COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) situation.”
Residents who make their payment on or before the deadline can receive a 10-per-cent early payment discount, while those who miss the deadline will lose their discount.
City staff is requesting all payments to be made remotely by the following options:
- Online or telephone banking through a financial institution
- Online through the city’s website using a credit card
- Mail a cheque to City of Richmond Tax Department (6911 No. 3 Road)
- Drop-off a cheque in the 24-hour drop box at Richmond City Hall’s west entrance
The council has also eliminated cash transactions at City Hall until after September 30 to reduce the risk of theft and to improve physical distancing.
