Burnaby RCMP is looking for a pair of suspected car thieves who bashed their way through three police cars and three civilian vehicles in a stolen Nissan Murano to escape from a Metrotown parking lot Thursday afternoon.

Following investigative leads, officers from Burnaby RCMP’s prolific offender suppression team tracked a man and woman to a car in a parking lot at Metrotown at about 1:30 p.m., according to a police press release.

The car, a white Nissan Murano, was believed to be stolen.

“When officers approached the suspects, they fled in the stolen vehicle, striking three police vehicles and three civilian vehicles in the process,” states the release.

Three Mounties suffered minor bumps and bruises during the incident, but no civilians were hurt, according to police.

Shortly after the incident, police recovered the stolen car in Dickens Place in Burnaby.

Burnaby RCMP are now looking for the two suspects.

The male suspect is described as a 20-year-old South Asian man with black hair and a black beard.

The woman was wearing large oversized sunglasses and had her hair tied back. She is described as having “olive skin.”

Police are particularly interested in talking to anyone who witnessed two people matching that description walking in and around the 5800 block of Dickens Place or the Deer Lake Park area between 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Thursday

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999.
