Byelection: Ken Hamaguchi in his own words

Ken Hamaguchi is running in the May 29 byelection.

Ken Hamaguchi

Autism/behaviour consultant

Political affiliations (past and present): Richmond Education Party & Richmond Community and Education Party

What neighbourhood do you live in?

What inspired you to run?

I am running for office because I believe city hall is a “house divided.”  Decisions are often based on party affiliation, and not necessarily merit. If elected I will listen to the “extreme right/left and everyone in the middle” to come up with a decision that is in the best interests of all of Richmond.

What are your top priorities?

Dealing with Covid remains our top priority.  The role of City Hall will be critical as we recover and eventually, learn to adjust to “life after Covid.” Other priorities include affordable housing, community safety (fire/police services), and traffic and transportation.

All byelection candidate profiles will be published online over the next few days.
