Sunny Ho is running for Richmond city council in the May 29 byelection.

One candidate in the May 29 byelection is promising a Richmond university, 50 new police officers, 30,000 affordable homes, relaxing building height restrictions and training people overseas for the restaurant/hotel business.

Sunny Ho, however, refused to grant an interview with the Richmond News to explain how he’s going to fulfil those promises, despite repeated requests.

Ho did reach out to Chinese-language media and did an interview with the Ming Pao.

In the Ming Pao interview, Ho said a new hospital could be built on the Garden City Lands, located in the Agricultural Land Reserve. He also said he would build a university and name it Richmond National University.

Ho ran in the 2018 municipal election on the Richmond First slate. This time he is running as an independent.
