Global business leaders will be in Richmond on Saturday to hear about investment opportunities in the context of the U.S.-China trade war.

Hosted by NAI Interactive Ltd., a firm dedicated to providing the latest financial news to Chinese investors, the 20th annual Global Chinese Financial Forum (GCFF) will take place at the Executive Hotel Vancouver Airport on Oct. 5.

The day-long conference will bring together business leaders from different industries to meet with the Chinese investor community here, according to Gilbert Chan, president of NAI Interactive Ltd and organizer of this event.

NAI Interactive Ltd has been holding financial forum three times a year in Richmond for the past 20 years. The forum is in English and Mandarin to help non-native English speakers take part.

Many local Chinese investors are getting anxious about the U.S.-China trade war since this hot button issue has made a lot of international news headlines. The purpose of this upcoming event is to help entry-level investors find more opportunities, said Chan.

“The trade war is creating more uncertainty in the market - investors do feel the volatility on a daily basis,” Chan said.

Qi Huo, CEO of a Toronto-based asset management company, will speak at the conference about how the investment market is being affected by the trade war, Chan added.

The conference will also highlight some digital technology interactions presented by tech companies. Participants can download a free app and then use it to scan QR codes from company booths. They will see videos and animations popping out on their cellphones.

“Technology is developing so fast nowadays, so we need to share the latest trends with local investors. The excitement in the future is to think about all the new advances in technology,” Chan said.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the company, NAI will be donating a portion of the conference's proceeds to the Richmond Hospital Foundation.
